Hi guys, I thought I would do a how to for this stitch as it is now featured in one of our squares!
Once you get the hang of it you’ll want to make it all day long; I think I’m going to make a lovely blanket out of it soon!
So here we go, grab your yarn and hook and let’s make something beautiful!
Materials:
- Any yarn and an appropriate size hook.
- That’s it!
All crochet patterns and terms I use are in UK, but if you want them in US then check out this handy stitch converter.
Row 0: Ch multiples of 10 + 7 (17,27,37 etc). In this example I will assume a ch of 27, to make a sampler square.
Row 1: dc in 2nd chain from hook, dc in next ch, * skip 3ch, 7tr-cl in next ch, skip 3ch, dc in next 3ch*. Repeat from * once more. Skip next 3ch, 4tr-cl in last ch. Fasten off (26 stitches total)
Row 2: Turn to wrong side facing. Attach new colour. Dc in next two stitches, * ch 3, 7 tc tog, sl st into last tc, then sl st into second tc from 7tr-cl, dc in next 3 stitches *. Repeat from * once more. ch 3, 4 tc tog. (26 stitches total)
Row 3: Turn to right side facing. Ch 3, 3 tc in same space, * 3 dc in next 3 stitches, 7tr-cl *. Repeat from * once more. Finish off with dc in final 2 stitches. Fasten off. (26 stitches total)
Row 4: Turn to wrong side facing. Attach new colour. Ch 3, 3 tr tog, * dc in next 3 stitches, ch 3, 7 tc tog, sl st into last tc, then sl st into second tc from 7tr-cl *. Repeat from * once more. Dc in last 2 stitches (26 stitches total)
Row 5: Turn to right side facing. dc in next 2 spaces, * 7tr-cl, dc in next 3 stitches *. Repeat from * once more. Finish off with 4tr-cl. Fasten off. (26 stitches total)
Now just repeat rows 2-5 until you have the desired height.

I have also attached a crochet diagram for those who like to work from charts =)
