CAL – Part 30

Granny Square – Anchor square

All crochet patterns and terms I use are in UK, but if you want them in US then check out this handy stitch converter.

Materials:

  • DK yarn in various colours – I’m still using Stylecraft DK yarn that I got in my order from Deramores =D
  • 3mm hook
  • Embroidery or Darning needle ( for weaving in ends )

Skills used/required:

  • chaining
  • Half treble crochet (htc)
  • treble crochet (tc)
  • Slip stitch (sl st)
  • double crochet (dc)

Gauge:

Final square = 12cm

Repeat rows 1-5 from our simple square.

Row 6: In a new colour (I used blue to match the anchor), attach yarn to any ch 1 corner space. Ch 3, (tc, ch1, 2tc) in same ch 1 space, * tc in next 19 st, (2tc, ch 1, 2tc) in corner ch 1 space * . Repeat from * twice more. Finish off with tc in next 19 st, then sl st into 3 ch from ch3. Fasten off. ( 92 stitches total)

For the anchor applique, I followed the tutorial on Natsulog.
