CAL – Part 31

Granny Square – Pumpkin square
All crochet patterns and terms I use are in UK, but if you want them in US then check out this handy stitch converter.
Materials:
- DK yarn in various colours – I’m still using Stylecraft DK yarn that I got in my order from Deramores =D
- 3mm hook
- Embroidery or Darning needle ( for weaving in ends )
Skills used/required:
- chaining
- Double crochet (dc)
- treble crochet (tc)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Magic ring
- Double treble crochet (dtc)
- Half treble crochet (htc)
Gauge:
Final square = 12cm
Repeat rows 1-5 from our simple square.
Row 6: attach yarn to any ch 1 corner space. Ch 3, (tc, ch1, 2tc) in same ch 1 space, * tc in next 19 st, (2tc, ch 1, 2tc) in corner ch 1 space * . Repeat from * twice more. Finish off with tc in next 19 st, then sl st into 3 ch from ch3. Fasten off. ( 92 stitches total)
To make the pumpkin applique, get orange yarn and make a magic ring. 8 dc into the magic ring. (dc, htc) in the next stitch, 2 htc in the next stitch, (htc, tc) in the next stitch, (tc, sl st) in the next stitch, (dc htc) in the next stitch, 2 tc in the next stitch, 2 dtc in the next stitch, (tc, dc) in the next stitch. Fasten off.
To make the pumpkin stump, get brown yarn and ch 4, attaching the to the top of the pumpkin. Fasten off.

These squares are amazing Abigail ! I learnt how to knit at a very young age seeing both my daughters through school with there school jumpers and I also took in private orders….but I’ve never learnt to crochet . These crochet squares have so inspired me that I’m GOING to learn.watch this space 🙂
