It’s time to make our final square! How exciting! From next week we will slowly start to piece it all together into one gorgeous blanket.

CAL – Part 36
Granny Square – Long Stitch square

All crochet patterns and terms I use are in UK, but if you want them in US then check out this handy stitch converter.
Materials:
- DK yarn in various colours – I’m still using Stylecraft DK yarn that I got in my order from Deramores =D
- 3mm hook
- Embroidery or Darning needle ( for weaving in ends )
Skills used/required:
- Treble Crochet (tc)
- Chaining
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Long treble crochet (Long tc)
Gauge:
Final square = 12cm
Row 0: Ch3 (counts as first tc), 2tc into the ring, ch2, * 3tc into the ring, ch2 *. Repeat from * 3 times. Finish off with sl st into 3ch of beginning ch3. Fasten off. (12 stitches total)
Row 1: Join new colour in any corner ch2-sp, ch3 (counts as first tc), (1tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, * (2tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1 tc in next st *. Repeat from * twice more. Finish off with sl st into 3ch of beginning ch3. Fasten off. (24 stitches total)
Row 2: Join new colour in any corner ch2-sp, ch3 (counts as first tc),ย (1tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, 1 long tc in next st from row 0 (and trapping the ch1 from previous row within the stitch), 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, * (2tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, 1 long tc in next st from row 0, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st *. Repeat from * twice more. Finish off with sl st into 3ch of beginning ch3. Fasten off. (36 stitches total)
Row 3: Join new colour in any corner ch2-sp, ch3 (counts as first tc), (1tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, 1 long tc in next st from row 1 (and trapping the ch1 from previous row within the stitch), 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, 1 long tc in next st from row 1, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, * (2tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, 1 long tc in next st from row 1, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, 1 long tc in next st from row 1, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st *. Repeat from * twice more. Finish off with sl st into 3ch of beginning ch3. Fasten off. (48 stitches total)
Row 4: Join new colour in any corner ch2-sp, ch3 (counts as first tr), (1tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in each of next 3 sts, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in each of next 3 sts, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, *(2tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in each of next 3 sts, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in each of next 3 sts, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in next st, ch1, skip st, 1tc in next st* . Repeat from * twice more. Finish off with sl st into 3ch of beginning ch3. ย Fasten off. (68 stitches total)
Row 5: Join new colour in any corner ch2-sp, ch3 (counts as first tr), (1tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next 3 sts, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in each of next 11 sts, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in next 3 sts, *(2tc, ch2, 2tc) in corner sp, 1tc in next 3 sts, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in each of next 11 sts, long tc in next st from row 2, 1tc in next 3 sts *. Repeat from * twice more. Finish off with sl st into 3ch of beginning ch3. Fasten off. (92 stitches total)
And that’s it, our final square! I have a few ideas that I need to make into posts for what you can do with your squares if you don’t wish to make a blanket, but until then, enjoy looking at all of your gorgeous squares!
