It’s that time of the week again; Granny Square time! I really like this square, it’s really simple but it’s super pretty! I hope you guys like it 🙂 .

Lets get crocheting guys!

CAL – Part 14

Granny Square – Varied Simple Square

All crochet patterns and terms I use are in UK, but if you want them in US then check out this handy stitch converter.

Materials:

  • DK yarn in blue and yellow for the middle square – I used Stylecraft DK yarn that I got in my order from Deramores =D For this square I used both yarns throughout to make an aran weighted yarn
  • DK yarn in blue, light blue and yellow for the left square, and dk yarn in white, blue and yellow for the right square
  • 3mm hook for left and right square, 4.5mm for middle sqaure

Skills used/required:

  • Treble Crochet (tc)
  • Chaining
  • Slip stitch (sl st)
  • 3 Treble Cluster (3tr-cl)

For this square I will assume you are working the middle square. If you wish to do the side squares then please change colours when needed 🙂

Row 0: ch 6, then sl st into ch 1 to make a ring.

Row 1: ch 3, (counts as first of 3 tr cluster), 2 tr cluster to finish, * ch 2, 3 tr-cl *. Repeat from * 7 times. Finish with 2 ch, sl st into 3rd ch in ch3. (24 stitches total)

Row 2: ch 5, *(3tr-cl, 3ch, 3tr-cl) in next 2 ch space, ch 2, 3tc in next 2 ch space, 2 ch * . Repeat from * twice more. (3tr-cl, 3ch, 3tr-cl) in next 2 ch space, ch 2, 2tc in final 2 ch space. Finish off with sl st into 3rd ch in ch3. (36 stitches total)

Row 3: ch 3, 2tc in next 2ch space, 2ch *(3tr-cl, 3ch, 3tr-cl) in next 2 ch space, ch 2, 2tc in next 2 ch space, tc in next 3 stitches, 2tc in next 2 ch space, 2 ch * . Repeat from * twice more. (3tr-cl, 3ch, 3tr-cl) in next 2 ch space, ch 2, 2 tc in next 2ch space, tc in next 2 stitches. Finish off with sl st into 3rd ch in ch3. (52 stitches total)

Row 4: ch 3, tc in next 2 stitches, 2tc in next 2ch space, 2ch *(3tr-cl, 3ch, 3tr-cl) in next 2 ch space, ch 2, 2tc in next 2 ch space, tc in next 7 stitches, 2tc in next 2 ch space, 2 ch * . Repeat from * twice more. (3tr-cl, 3ch, 3tr-cl) in next 2 ch space, ch 2, 2 tc in next 2ch space, tc in next 4 stitches. Finish off with sl st into 3rd ch in ch3. (68 stitches total)

Row 5: ch 3, tc in next 4 stitches, 2tc in next 2ch space, 2ch *(3tr-cl, 3ch, 3tr-cl) in next 2 ch space, ch 2, 2tc in next 2 ch space, tc in next 11 stitches, 2tc in next 2 ch space, 2 ch * . Repeat from * twice more. (3tr-cl, 3ch, 3tr-cl) in next 2 ch space, ch 2, 2 tc in next 2ch space, tc in next 6 stitches. Finish off with sl st into 3rd ch in ch3. (84 stitches total)

You should now have a completed middle square! If you are doing the left of right square you will need to do one more row, repeating the same technique of 2 tc in the 2ch spaces on the side.

I hope you guys love this square as much as I do! ❤
