The summer is coming to a close now, but the weather is still gorgeous and I couldn’t resist eeking out the last bit of summer in this gorgeous floral square; I hope you like it!

Granny Square – Summer square
All crochet patterns and terms I use are in UK, but if you want them in US then check out this handy stitch converter.
Materials:
- DK yarn in various colours – ( I used purple, orange, pink, green and blue) – I’m still using Stylecraft DK yarn that I got in my order from Deramores =D
- 3mm hook
- Embroidery or Darning needle ( for weaving in ends )
Skills used/required:
- Double crochet (dc)
- chaining
- Half treble crochet (htc)
- treble crochet (tc)
- Double treble crochet (dtc)
Gauge:
Final square = 12cm
Row 0: In orange yarn, ch 5, sl st into 1st chain to make a circle.
Row 1: 10 dc into the circle, sl st into beginning dc and fasten off. (10 stitches total)
Row 2: In pink and in top loops only, attach yarn to any stitch. *Ch 5, sl st into next stitch, sl st into next stitch*. Repeat from * 4 more times.
Row 3: * 8 dc into the nearest ch 5, sl st into the base of the ch 5, sl st into the base of the next ch 5*. Repeat from * 4 more times. Fasten off. (40 stitches total)
Row 4: working in the bottom loops from row 1, with purple yarn. Attach yarn, *ch 10, sl st into next st *. Repeat from * 3 times, skip stitch, repeat again from * 4 more times.
Row 5: * in the nearest ch 10, htc 14, sl st into the base of the ch 10*. Repeat from * 7 more times. Fasten off. (112 stitches total)
Row 6: with green yarn and working in the back loops only, attach to and purple petal at stitch 7. Ch 1, dc in the same stitch, *dc in the next stitch, ch 3, (htc, tc, htc) in stitch 6 of the next petal, ch 1, (tc, dtc, dtc, tc) in the next stitch, ch 3, (tc, dtc, dtc, tc) in the next stitch, ch 1, (htc, tc, htc) in the next stitch. Ch 3, dc into stitch 7 on the next purple petal *. Repeat from * twice more. Finish off with dc in the next stitch, ch 3, (htc, tc, htc) in stitch 6 of the next petal, ch 1, (tc, dtc, dtc, tc) in the next stitch, ch 3, (tc, dtc, dtc, tc) in the next stitch, ch 1, (htc, tc, htc) in the next stitch, ch 3, sl st into the beginning dc from this row. Fasten off. (72 stitches total)
Row 7: With blue, and working in the back loops only, attach into corner ch 3 space. ch 1, * (dc, ch 3, dc) in same ch 3 space, dc in the next 4 stitches, ch 4, skip the next 3 stitches and the ch 3 space, htc in the 2 stitches on the next petal, ch 4, skip the ch 3 space and the first 3 stitches, dc in the next 4 stitches * . Repeat from * three more times. Finish off with sl st into the first dc in this row. ( 48 stitches total).
Row 8: ch 3, *(2tc, ch 3, 2tc) in ch 3 space, tc in the next 5 stitches, 4tc in ch 4 space, tc in the next 2 stitches, 4tc in the ch 4 space, tc in the next 5 stitches *. Repeat from * twice more. (2tc, ch 3, 2tc) in ch 3 space, tc in the next 5 stitches, 4tc in ch 4 space, tc in the next 2 stitches, 4tc in the ch 4 space, tc in the next 4 stitches. Finish off with sl st into 3ch of beginning ch3. Fasten off. (96 stitches total)
And that’s it! You now have another gorgeous square to add to your collection!
